Arcana Ma Zine
A zine exploring the institution of motherhood, mothers making art, and feminist views on mothering under patriarchy.
Inside you'll find my rambling thoughts on the intersections of art, art history, and feminist theory through a matricentric lense. Art from my Sapphic and Arcana Ma series are present throughout this zine.
This is a 5.5" × 8.5" zine on good ol' copy paper, 6 pages total, and it's been hand sewn together.

What is a zine?
A zine (pronounced “zeen,” like magazine) is a non commercial, small-circulation work that is self-published. Zines are always handmade. They’re a part of DIY culture and zine making is motivated by passion, the desire for self-expression, and sharing a unique perspective, not making a profit. Because of this, zine trading is an important part of the culture. Zines can consist of any genre you can imagine: they can be personal or educational or humorous or political. They can really be about anything! A common feature that zines share is that they’re outside the mainstream—by reading a zine, you’re probably hearing from someone who doesn’t have access to traditional publishing (or has no desire to go the traditional route). Importantly, zines provide access to often underrepresented voices, if you're reading a zine, you're hearing directly from someone with a unique perspective.

In the spirit of zines... my zine is raw and unpolished, it was made on a library copy machine, and I am always open to zine trades! Shoot me a message via the contact page if you are a zinster and want to make a trade. I've got more zines not found on my website and we can discuss further via email!
